Peter and the Wolf — Listening and Illustration Workshop
Media Library of the National Museum of Music
July 4th, 10:00 AM

Duration: 2 hours
Age range: children (and families) aged 6 to 12 years old
Led by Marta Franco and Rita Ponciano

Young Peter challenges a ferocious wolf in a Russian forest. With cunning, he captures it with the help of a bird. Each character has its own musical theme, in a pedagogical and enchanting orchestral work by the celebrated composer Sergei Prokofiev.
In this listening and illustration workshop, everyone is invited to explore the surprising relationship between sound and image. We provide the materials: just bring your curiosity and let your imagination run wild.
The workshop is led by musicologist Marta Franco and illustrator Rita Ponciano. Marta Franco holds a degree in Architecture and a Master's degree in Musical Sciences — Historical Musicology. She is part of the National Museum of Music's team, responsible for its Media Library, and also collaborates with the educational service. Rita Ponciano studied Visual Arts and Business Communication. She completed the Free Course in Nature Drawing at the Museum of Natural History and Science and several drawing and illustration training courses at the Nextart Artistic Training Center. Since 2015, she has participated in collective painting and drawing exhibitions with works in graphite and watercolor, the latter being the technique she most enjoys developing, mixing it with other materials. Currently, her work is based on three areas: illustration in shop windows and interior murals, illustration, and illustration workshops.
