Founded in Venezuela in 1993 under the direction of Sandra Silvio, Ensemble Musica Reservata is dedicated to the promotion of early music, with a repertoire spanning from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period. Since its foundation, the group has focused on innovative and original programmes, recording seven albums that include works by Monteverdi, the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, and a programme dedicated to tonos humanos from the Spanish and Latin American Baroque traditions. The ensemble has appeared at major international festivals in France, England, French Guiana, and Venezuela. Sandra Silvio, a Venezuelan-French lyric soprano, musicologist, and early music educator, studied at the National Conservatory of Caracas and the School of Arts of the Central University of Venezuela before continuing her training at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris and earning a doctorate in Musicology from the University of Tours.
