The Embassy of Japan in Portugal presents pianist Tempei Nakamura at the National Museum of Music, with a programme dedicated to the fascinating Sengoku Period (1467-1573). In a chaotic world where life could end at any moment, people fought with unwavering determination to survive. It was through this relentless pursuit of their limits that extraordinary talents emerged and great historical figures were born. At the heart of this generation stood Oda Nobunaga, one of the three great unifiers of feudal Japan. Sengoku Suite portrays the captivating story of an era during which Japan was unified under his leadership.

Born in Kobe, pianist and composer Tempei Nakamura began studying piano at the age of five. During primary school, his home was destroyed in the Great Hanshin Earthquake. He left secondary school to work in the demolition industry. Although he did not play piano throughout his primary and secondary education years, he was accepted into a music school and continued his studies at Osaka University of Arts. In 2006, he moved to New York. In 2008, he made his CD debut with EMI Music Japan. In 2010, he made his solo debut at Carnegie Hall. He performs annually in Europe and has given concerts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Maison de la Culture du Japon in Paris, the Japanese-German Center in Berlin, and venues across several countries. He dedicated his Rising Sun project to reconstruction efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake and was awarded the Arts Development Prize by the Hyogo Prefectural Artists Society in 2015.
