Andrej Power, violin and conductor
The Gulbenkian Orchestra makes its debut at the National Museum of Music with Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, Op. 48, composed in 1880 as a tribute to Mozart and the Classical style. Under the direction of Andrej Power, current leader of the London Symphony Orchestra, the programme pairs Tchaikovsky's masterpiece with an early work by Mozart, the renowned Divertimento K. 136, written when the composer was only fifteen years old. The concert also includes one of Dvorák's best-loved works, the Nocturne, Op. 40.
