The Ensamble Alfabeto, based in Colombia, presents itself in Portugal for a sonic journey to the heart of the Renaissance, exploring the dialogue between two cultural universes that shaped European modernity, Spain and England, in conversation with the works of Cervantes and Shakespeare.
The concert brings together the profound spirituality of Tomás Luis de Victoria, Cristóbal de Morales and Francisco Guerrero with the intimate melancholy of John Dowland, Thomas Campion and William Byrd — where the Spanish vihuela and the English lute meet through the poetic word of the Golden Age.
Founded around the plucked string instruments of the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods, the Ensamble Alfabeto has performed at international festivals in Rome, Buenos Aires, Lima, and Madrid, and has released three albums.
