Two dancers take the stage as if conquering an empty space. These bodies are not here to play around. Yet it does not take much for the lightness of Franz Schubert's Fantasy in F Minor to turn into a playground for these two performers, both experienced in urban dance. They follow the rhythm with jolting shoulders and legs, while also engaging in a pas de deux that is at once brotherly and competitive, built from lifts, glissés, piqués and distorted pointe work. With choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira, the weight of the bodies, the weight of the music, and the weight of classical and hip-hop codes are lightened to create new variations and invent a new space for sharing, open to sensitivity and expression. From fragile attempts to virtuosic absurdities, another vision of grace emerges.
