Alcobaça Monastery · 2460-018 Alcobaça
One of the first Cistercian monastic foundations in Portuguese territory, the Alcobaça Monastery became the main house of this religious Order, thanks to a continued policy of royal protection, initiated by the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques.
The medieval outbuildings still preserved make the Alcobaça Monastery a unique complex in the world, to which are added the later buildings, from the 16th to the 18th centuries, important testimonies of the evolution of Portuguese architecture. It has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1989.
Residents of Portugal have 52 days of free entry per year to museums, monuments and palaces, any day of the week.
“Access 52” tickets are not available for issue at this online ticket office.
Please go to the physical ticket office of one of our Museums or Monuments to request them.
